Shortly before the end of 2021, the honor of the Huawei spin-off brand began to tease the magic v smartphone that could be folded. Fast forward just a few weeks later, and not only have the device it was revealed, but we had a complete set of specifications to boot. Of course, the most significant interest point for many of us is likely to be displayed, so it is a little surprising that the honor describes it in very specific details today.
Honor Magic V comes with two views, like many cellphones where the folds are vertical than horizontal. On the exterior, we have an OLED 6.45 inch screen that can reach up to 120Hz and have a resolution of 2560 x 1080. This display is actually a little more proficient than the interior display, at least in terms of refresh rate, as the interior display maximizes 90Hz.
That doesn’t mean the interior display is hunchback. All open, the OLED interior screen which is folded at 7.9 inches, provides more nuances of tablets rather than the telephone. Like Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Fold or Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3, we suspect that the honor of Magic V is quite a spectator when the interior screen opens completely.
Honor said that he used “Advanced Tiring Water Hinges Technology” to make the magic v slimmer than his competitors when folded. Honor actually shares specifics in the total thickness of the device too, saying that the device is 6.7mm thick when opened and 14.3mm when folded. Both displays also include 100% DCI-P3 color space and support HDR10 +.
Moving beyond the display, the honor of Magic V has several internals that are worth talking about too. Magic V uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G SOC, and while honor does not give us benchmarks for computing performance, it says that this phone offers 30% GPU performance better than the previous generation thanks to Adreno 730.
Then we have a camera, with a triple camera array at the back and one camera facing forward. The camera facing forward uses a 42MP lens that can record videos in 4K and take pictures in 7.552 x 5.664. While the front facing camera doesn’t seem to be hunched, the rear camera array is clearly a star here, because it has three 50MP shooters in all between the main width cameras, ultra-wide cameras, and “enhanced spectrum. Camera.” Like the front facing camera, this camera can photograph videos up to 4K, while the maximum image resolution gets a lump up to 8.192 x 6,155.
Honor actually spends a lot of time talking about software on Magic V, which will run AIA AIA 6.0 and the AI Honorary engine is nicknamed “Magic Live.” While the honor says that Live magic will be something from a personal assistant who is getting smarter as time goes by, there is one area where the AI phone will be immediately visible, and it is in the use of multi-windows. Honor says that users will be able to divide the folding screen of the cellphone into several windows, with AI that detects and recommends content that will be good for such layout.
Finally, honor said that Magic V uses a 4.750mAh battery that can charge up to 100% in 40 minutes through a 66W Honor SuperCharge. Add to HTee + QTee Security, Dual Speaker with DTS: X Ultra, and support for WiFi 6, and it looks like we did have a folding flap in our hands.
Honor wasting time to issue this cellphone, because it will be launched in China on January 18 – a little more than one week starting today. Model 12 + 256GB will run RMB 9,999 (around $ 1,568), while version 12 + 512GB will run RMB 10,999 (around $ 1,725). This is an expensive cellphone, no doubt, but may have a specification sheet to go to head with folds from Xiaomi and Samsung.
